Using Whiteboards for online collaboration.

My online friends gave me two whiteboard-software to look at. Looking at the possibility to make online drawings, flowcharts while talking. Check this out. Talking support the visual idea.

You can simply go with your pencil online. No need to install any software. Just draw. Should work really neat with a wacom tablet or with a tablet PC. The attendees can draw too. Clarify their ideas and after having made a drawing they can send the ideas via email to eachother. Nice stuff. The best I have seen so far.

I know there are certainly many more out there, but these will do for now. I need simple things. The visio and mindjet/mindmap stuff I will do later.

I did some testing too with www.helponmypc.com. Ideal for helping out people. www.Unyte.com also not bad (nicely integrated with Skype) good for combining with local desktop.

Telecom Violence in Thailand and other Skype violence...

I find it disturbing that people with hex-editors can insert code into the skype.exe client in order to tamper with the functionality of the skype system. Makes me wonder what else is going on, or could be going on. I also find the silence are www.coobol.com that can trace supernodes a funny thing. Where there is smoke, there is fire and why was there never given a proper explanation to the dissapearing act of the miniskype.exe. And why is the dual/triple quadruple login not addressed as an issue. And what about the public password reset and the clear-text password reset… I have never seen weaker security in my life on that level !

These issues better be fixed before they dammage the global brandname of Skype. You can have a nice phone in your hand, but if it is just something that also rings somewhere else because of the undocumented dual-login feature, I rather not have it.

On the matter of linkin email-addresses to skype_ID, I would recommend not to put the company email-address into the Skype box and setup the Skype account on a separate unit, before you distribute it to the user population in the company. During the creation of the account you fill in an email-address which is derived from a protected domain and which runs on a IMAP or other secure mailserver. The email-ID linked to the Skype_ID cannot be the [email protected] email_ID. Any kid can guess that and try to intercept the email where it resides (referring to the email-password-reset).

And I want to be able to disable the dual-login feature of Skype. Until then, well I wait.

The idiocracy of free VoIP.

I got a file from somebody in Canada. It was an mp3–file, coming in via Skype. I did not know why I accepted it, but I did. It was just thrown to me. It was a recording of a conversation between two other people. One of them probably did not know the conversation was being recorded. I don’t know who was in that conversation. Nobody told me what was in there. I did not know the topic before-hand. I wanted to listen to it toghether with a friend in America somewhere. I was on Skype connected with my headset to somebody 10.000 km away and they could see my face on the free video-conference. Ole ole.

After 30 minutes of fooling around with dual jack-cable plugs and we could could listen the mp3 together, but we didn’t because it did not make sense. We just lost another hour of time. So let’s shut down the computer now, and buy a bluetooth headset with cellphone that can do skype and wifi so I can do the same thing, and wonder again why we are doing this.

And in my livingroom I got a friend from downstairs surfing on my line looking for a new job. I am doing the same thing.

The medium just became the message and the topic. We are linked with computer via software, listening to mp3–files that talk about the medium. Interesting. Kafka and McLuhan are sitting in a room together mumbling things.

Over and out. Every system has the tendency for self-destruction and that is what I think we are potentially seeing here.
