I know it's probably not a big deal if you live already 10 years in a highly internet penetrated country but in malaysia, kuala lumpur, since few months you can now get 1 pizza for free if you order 1 online at www.pizzahutonline.com.my. I thought the world needed to know, that when this happens in a country, it means that internet e-commerce is on it's way :). All this did not exist in Malaysia few years ago. Things are changing, slow change, but changing.

They (pizzahut) should take a look at their order confirmation system I think, because they don't call to confirm your order, kind of a security loophole in their system I think... Now it looks like anybody who can register an account (without having it confirmed to the email-address - where did I hear that before ... - or via an SMS can have a pizza send home. I mean that is not smart, since you should get a phonecall before a physical shipment is done. I hope they really think about that !

1st time I see a Malaysian company with roof top advertising in Google Earth

Here look at this. I discovered a company who actually painted their local (at least that is what it looks like) on top of their roof. I needed to go to Penang Island to pay Exabytes (one of the better providers in Malaysia) a friendly visit and to clarify some technical matters. And I found this company on google earth. It' s a smart way to get noticed. Certainly works.

For those matsalleh or quailoo's who still get lost in Malaysia, since some month here is http://maps.google.com also available. Very handy.

Network marketing cockroaches and VoIP telephony. What's the link ?

I live in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and today I went together with a VoIP integrator to some fair in Sunway Lagoon Shopping Center (a shoppingcenter next to an entertainment park in Kuala Lumpur). We were told there was a booth with such a phone and yes we saw one. Upclose; a real videophone. I did not work but you could touch it and the screen looked nice. It had a build in camera. I forgot my camera, so no pictures here… A bit further there was a booth of www.in-voice.com which showed all kinds of VoIP-boxes and phones of Linksys. I wondered why these guys were there. Linked to the network marketing guy – V Malaysia something – . Ah I see, where I have arrived now…. There was a conference of some network marketing company (the worst kind of sales people if you ask me… see my blog on network marketing cockroaches…I already pissed of a few of them in my life…). I am talking about those things like Usana, Amway, Herbalife and all that crap, which is now entering at high speed Malaysia it seems. Well of course VoIP telephony is something they use to call up people to become part of some stupid pyramid multi-level marketing thing. All idiots if you ask me.  I am so happy I am busy with something else…

Probably we will need a network marketeer spam/spim/spit filter on skype very soon… Something to make sure that

The answer to the question is that you don’t need a brain to sell, you just need to brainwashed, join some network multi-level network marketing system, they will tell you what to think and of you go. Hello ! You might even write book at the end of your career as an example for others. And that seems to work here in South-East Asia.

Tip : don’t buy a VoIP phone which is linked to some free advertising. You might and will be network-marketed.

Who's crawling the skype-user database and why and how ?

Let’s assume that there 100 mio real users. That must be a real honey pot for internet marketeers of all sorts. I predict that there will be people who will tap into this «community»

Imagine a plug-in that invites you to win 1 hour of skype out credit and project some images of VoIP phones or other skype related products and services. It would not be the privilege of only Ebay to do this ? Who will decide here Ebay (and) or Skype ?

Think about extensive data-mining and correlation between email-databases, Skype – User-ID’s, Nielsen-data, location-data, IP traffic-behaviour and Geo-data (starting with GPS-coordinates). This will happen. It already has. And what about the legal issues here. How much protection can a EULA offer. Virtually none. It’s a piece of paper. And how do you enforce the protection that users need from marketing scavenging techniques (compare to spiders crawling the net for email-addresses).

What would be the potential usage of these type of databases, simply mind-boggling.

Think about MSN which has external adds built in. Well yesterday I was listening to Tunes-up (a great music-plug-in) and once in a while I hear disturbing jingles. Like a free radio or something or web-site promoting their stuff. I did not ask for this, but okay. I would not mind to see some adds below of interesting skype related products (as long as I can choose to put it on or off).

The best place to sell VoIP / Skype related products is on the Skype cloud itself (every skype user is there). The battle for the cloud has begun. Mark my words.
