Sekeping Serendah Glass Jungle Hut weekend.

We went there. Great place. Very close to Kuala Lumpur. Not even 1 hour drive. I mapped the route with my Garmin Nuvi 200 device on google (it's also explained in the links here and here how to do this). You will find peace, silence and nature at the end of the road in Sekeping. Don't forget to visit the waterfall (don't stay at the bottom, but walk up, it's a short walk and certain worth it).

Another day in Hong Kong.

Zit in the Bishop Lei hotel van de katholieken. Kon gans de nacht niet slapen (niets, helemaal niets) door iemand die in de zelfde kamer slaapt en snurkt gelijk een varken met ademhaling-stoornissen.

Dan kon ik ook nog niet van kamer veranderen want ge moet alletwee tegelijkertijd uitchecken. Ook weeral goed geregeld... Slotsom, niet geslapen, moegetergd, tot vervelens toe. Dan  ook nog niet binnengelaten in de ontbijtroom om omdat het nog niet open was. Waarop ik wat tegen de manager hier van mijn kloten gemaakt heb, dat het niet zo wijs mensen gelijk een hond over en weer te schoppen en dat ik dat gewoonweg niet verdraag. Ze hebben mijn dan wijselijk ge-isoleerd in het "business center" (een kot met computers en een printer) en bij deze deze blog, voor de rest wel doenbaar dat hotel. Een beetje platte service, zonder engagement, maar ja, het is ook de hilton niet.

Great experience, really, especially since it had been quite a while. Funny how the dog chased the horse, once getting up to speed. Afterwards the horse keeper did not feel comfortable  anymore with those belgians cowboys racing on the beach. So I slowed down a bit .

Since this blog is all about me anyways : here is Jan Geirnaert (me) horse riding in Malaysia on a beach somewhere in Penang

They charge like 30 RM for 15 minute horse ride. I only rode the horse like 10 minutes, since my legs where hurting (I had not brought a long trouser...), but I still can race it, great fun. Anybody care to join me for a horse jungle trip or some trip in Kuala Lumpur, don't be shy to ask. Here is the quick shot one of my friends made :

How old was I 1983 ? And something about old comic books.

I was just wondering how old I was 1983... I was born in 1967 in Ghent, Belgium. So I am 40 now. Back in 1983 I was 16 years of age. I guess 1983 was the time of ET Phone Home. I remember going to the movies (decascoop) during that time. We are 25 years later now. 2008. I live in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Yesterday I found some old comic books on a Malay flee market, somewhere in Penang. 2RM each... 1RM is even to low to have a measurable/mental value in Europe. One second after I press the button publish of this blog article, this information will go online. Things have changed. I wonder how much these are worth (apart from the personal value). They really smell like old comic books. Here is what I found  on the flee market, let's link it to some internet findings.

• Arion, Lord of Atlantis 20, Jan Duursema, 1984, DC Comics (in perfect condition).
• Wonder Woman, Vol 35, no 225, sept 1978 by National Periodical Publications Inc. (good overview of Wonder Woman books here)

• Batman, Flash, The brave and the bold. Vol. 25, No 151, june 1979.

• Tales of the Teen Titans. The trial of the terminator. DC Comics. 1985.
• Dual in the Sand. Jonah Hex.  Vol. 7, No 79, Dec. 1983.
• Spiderman with the incredible hulk. No 583, 1984.
• Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe (comic book). No date known.

something we saw while walking in KL. Lanterns being hang for chinese newyear...

Note also how the busses in Kuala Lumpur got so much cleaner and nicer.
