The week's programme included a conference with high profile speakers who delivered hard-hitting messages.

I just went to this photographic exhibition of Ghent in Kuala Lumpur today. Actually great to see something about Ghent in Kuala Lumpur. I would never have expected this.

I am putting the images online here (courtesy of publication department of SGM, mr Liu Cheng Choong and mr Leong Tuck Yee) online so you can all enjoy them.

Having visited the exposition has given me even more desire to visit my home town Ghent (www.gent.be) far far away at the other end of the world in Belgium.

It's good to see that the people of Ghent promote their city Gent while being abroad.

The inauguration was a success, since our very own minister of foreigns affairs H.E. Karel De Gucht was present himself on the opening.  He seemed very pleased to discover his own church in Berlare among the 57 photos in display.... Introductory speeches were given by the deputy president of the gallery mr. Liu Cheng Choong (Soka Gakkai Malaysia), our very own minister of foreign affairs Karel De Gucht  and Walter Francois himself.  The Belgian Ambassador was present and also Mr. Tan Sri Syed Yusof.

Due to an accute appendicitis I missed the opening and could only visit the gallery today. I did a quick walkthrough of the whole exhibition. Nice work. Updating the information now on youtube. Here are some video's. See with my eyes.

Today the Star News published an article about this cultural event. Maybe one day we shall have a Malaysian doing to the same thing in Ghent ? "Kuala Lumpur in Ghent" ?

Speaking for myself I am sure I will be giving a nice video and photo-presentation when i go back to Ghent. One day...

Things not to do in the Malaysian Cinema

Certainly don't go sit in the Movie Theathre with a camera... I have seen that done before, very annoying to have somebody with a box sitting before you filming the movie. More than the cellphone guys that kept sms'ing and flashing his cellphone torch light... Arrrghk... Really annoying. Could not believe my eyes at first. People making screen overs... Probably for later reference or illegal copy. Ajoooooohhh... Appallaaaaah ! Got nothing else to do ?

Anyways, we went to Spiderman 3 yesterday. Great movie. Look at the signs of what and what not to do in the movies ! Better don't come sitting next to me with a cellphone or camera. You might have to buy a new one afterwards... and I really don't care how important your call is. Lights off. Cellphones off, that is the rule.

Thailand sues Youtube

As read here "Thailand is hitting YouTube with charges of lese majeste (up to 15 years in prison) regarding the recent videos on YouTube showing the king next to feet, something extremely offensive in Thailand.

'Since the first clip, more new videos mocking the king have appeared on YouTube, including pictures of the monarch that had been digitally altered to make him resemble a monkey. Thailand's 79-year-old king, almost universally adored by Thais, is the world's longest-reigning monarch, and one of the few who is still protected by tough laws that prohibit any insult against the royal family.'"

Breaking news : huge explosions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia around the Batucaves. Happening now.

I am recording it now (I notice a big cloud at about 19.30 something today on march 09 / 2007). N ot normal. Looked like something that exploded with a huge fire afterwards. I am about 10 km away from the batucaves. On the left of the batucaves you could see the smoke and fire.

Looks like a quite serious disaster that happened here in Kuala Lumpur. I am sure we'll find out what it is tomorrow or on the news this evening.

Earthquake Padang / Indonesia felt in Kuala Lumpur, but I am always taking a nap when something big happens.

At first I thought the shock was referring to the global Telecom revenues falling down, but that won't happen in the near future I think... Then it occured to me that I was back in S.E. We could feel the aftershock, at least some of us, but not me, since I was taking a nap. Maybe that is why I woke up :).

No more illegal software in Malaysia ?

As seen in low yat plaza, instead of the software stalls, where you normaly find loads loads of software on those 5RM disks… All gone now. They seem to have moved to somewhere else. Not sure if this will convince existing MS Windows users to upgrade to the official MS Vista…
